賽前剛成為運動畫刊年度最佳運動員（2016 SI Sportsperson of the Year），騎士隊當家球星詹姆斯（LeBron James）今天卻沒能單日迎接雙喜，騎士以94：113慘輸西區強權快艇隊，新球季首度嘗到連敗滋味。
詹姆斯上個球季率騎士終結52年的等待，力退勇士隊摘下NBA總冠軍，運動畫刊總編輯史東（Chris Stone）說：「一整年下來有那麼多運動員，很難記得什麼，但詹姆斯無疑是最終選擇。」
運動畫刊年度最佳運動員自1954年設獎，過去只有美國高球名將「老虎」伍茲兩度獲得此獎，詹姆斯在2010年首度獲獎，今年加入伍茲行列，他說：「我知道這是很棒的成就，我也知道這項獎項的歷史、獲獎有多麼榮耀。」他表示個人獎對他並沒太多實質感覺，「我更為家人、小孩、老婆、媽媽和自家基金會感到開心，為我代表的孩子們，以及視我為偶像的孩子們高興。」
不過詹姆斯獲得榮耀的喜氣沒延續到戰場，剛獲得東區單月最佳球員的騎士看板球星，今天14投僅5中，和隊友勒夫（Kevin Love ）攻下相同的16分，厄文（Kyrie Irving）雖攻下全場最高28分但19投也錯失11球，讓快艇第三節就拉開比分揚長而去。
吞下2連敗的騎士接續要迎接連續3場的客場之旅，明天首戰就要造訪芝加哥，詹姆斯「願賭服輸」，明天將穿上小熊隊球衣走進球場，完成好友「閃電俠」韋德在美國職棒世界大賽時的賭注。
